On October 12, the Pocatello Film Society will begin their 20th year of showing films at Idaho State University. In this spirit, we plan to show 20 of our favorite films that were shown over the past 20 years. Already, we have lit up the screen with such revisits of "Selma", "Lincoln", "Green Book", and "Darkest Hour" over the past year or so.
Fall 2025 finds us showing 2017's "The Greatest Showman" to begin the Fall semester, followed by an encore night of 2025's own "The Penguin Lessons" on September 21 which was a hit favorite this summer. Then in honor of Indigenous People's Day, we will host 2007's American Indian Film Festival Winner "Expiration Date" on October 12. Look for 2019's "Jojo Rabbit" on November 9, and then we'll plan to finish the semester with 2018's "The Public" on December 7.
Looking ahead to Spring semester, we plan to show "Invictus" from 2009 on MLK weekend, followed by Cuban Missile crisis story "Thirteen Days" on President's Day weekend, which we showed in 2013, although it's the 25th anniversary of that movie's release. 2026 is also the 25th anniversary of the "Fellowship of the Ring" so a revisiting of the Lord of the Rings saga may happen in April.
We will update this article as we add more films throughout the year, so come help us celebrate this retrospective of some of our favorite films.
